Sin separates us from God.
Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23

Because of our ancestral parents’ disobedience, they were separated from God and destined to die, both physically and spiritually. God declared that life would be tough and things wouldn’t be as they were supposed to. Life for the man and woman changed forever. The Bible calls that initial act of disobedience sin. Sin is anything that is contrary to the nature and desires of God. Being descendants of Adam and Eve, we, too, share their guilt and separation. All of were born separated from God. Now, because of our sinful nature, we do sinful things and have sinful thoughts and attitudes. Deep inside we know that we are separated from God and that things are not right.

The Bible teaches that we cannot pay for our sins except to suffer eternal death – to be forever separated from God. From the Bible we also see only two places where the soul of man may reside when he dies, Heaven or Hell. Since God will not allow anything sinful into Heaven, eternal separation from God means that a person must spend forever in Hell, the place of fire and torment which God prepared for Satan and his followers. Man is a in real predicament. He needs someone who can save him. He needs a sin-bearer just like the lamb in the Old Testament scriptures which bore the penalty for the sins of the ancient people of Israel.

Is there any hope??
