What does it mean to be a Christian?

Traditionally, we have been taught that becoming a Christian is about whether or not a person will go to Heaven when they die. This is definitely an important question that must be answered, it is the ultimate question. However, there is more to being a Christian than knowing your final destiny.

Houston, we've got a problem...
The Bible teaches that there is a problem in the world – a major problem. Our first ancestors, Adam and Eve, caused this problem in the very beginning of the human race. God created Adam from the dust of the earth (Genesis 2:7) then made Eve from one of Adam’s ribs (Genesis 2:22). He gave them life. He had made them and, just as you expect that something you make does what it is supposed to, so God had every right to instruct the man and woman and expect obedience. Only one instruction did he give (Genesis 2:17), and that single instruction was not obeyed, but rather blatantly disobeyed. (Genesis 3)

Man and woman sinned. Nothing would ever be the same. (Romans 5:12)

So what happened?
