You have landed on the web site of the former Country Cowboy Church in East Tennessee. The people who made up Country Cowboy Church now meet as a "hillbilly bible study" on Sunday evenings in one of our homes. We do not do "church" as most people would think of it, but we still have a burden and a vision for helping regular people who may not feel very comfortable going to regular church. We're looking at the Bible to find out what God has to say to us in this day and time. Any body is welcome. Just leave us a comment and someone will get in touch to let you know what, when and where. Meanwhile, take a few minutes to think about some things:

1. God has a wonderful plan for your life.
You have potential and are specially and uniquely created by Him for the purpose He had in mind. God want to bless us and deliver us from all the crap that we have to deal with in this old world. It was never meant to be this way. See Jeremiah 29:11

2. But we have a problem -- we've been separated from God by sin.

When the first man Adam sinned, God placed Adam outside the Garden of Eden and separated Himself from Adam. All the descendants of Adam were born outside the Garden, all born separated from God. Because Adam chose to willfully disobey God who had created him and had the right to be obeyed, Adam became disconnected from the very One who was his only source of life. Death resulted from sin -- not only physical death, but a death of man's spirit. Death became the requirement to pay for sin. Each person must now die as a result of being born as a son or daughter of Adam. But God loves mankind. He did not leave Adam alone and He has not left us alone. See Genesis 2:15; All of Genesis 3; Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23

3. God has provided a solution for our problem -- He died in our place.

God loves us. The Bible says that He loved us so much that He sent Jesus Christ to die in our place. Who was Jesus Christ?? He was God, Himself, born of a common young virgin named Mary. That miraculous birth was first indication that Jesus was not only a human, but also God. We deserve to be punished for the wrongs we have done. But God's mercy did not give us what we deserve. Since Jesus died in our place, we do not have to die for our own sins. Even greater than that is God's grace. Grace gives what we don't deserve -- reconcilation back to God and the offer of eternal life. God offers to take us back and give us everything that He ever intended for us. We can know God now through Jesus Christ. Life can have purpose and meaning again. But we have to come God's way, just like Adam did. See John 3:16; Romans 5:10; Romans 5:1; John 5:24

4. It all depends on how you respond -- will you accept God's offer?

God offers salvation freely to us now -- not only does He offer heaven when we die, but more importantly, He offers real life -- peace, joy and purpose -- to all who will believe what He has said. He wants to be our God and wants us to be His people. So what must we do? Nothing at all. It has already been done. All God asks is that we believe Him and look to Him to show us how we should live. Believing God means that we realize that what He says about our sin is true. We must come to see sin as that which seperates us from God and God hates our sin but loves us. We must change our minds about sin and the way we have been looking at God. He is the Source of Life and will not reject any who come to Him by trusting in Christ. A prayer does not do it, nor does going forward in church somewhere. Just trust Him at His word and turn to Him in faith. He will show you what is next. See Romans 3:24; John 10:10; John 6:39-40; Romans 10:9-10
